Under the “TIM Entrepreneurs” (TIM = Technology Innovation Management) program and the “Carleton Entrepreneurs” initiative (ventures.carleton.ca) at Carleton University, Cornerportal has benefited from a number of advantages.
“Our alliance with Carleton has provided us office space, servers, development tools and access to both undergraduate and graduate students who are keen to work on cutting edge projects like SCANZAI”, noted Mike Ayukawa of Cornerportal.
“It also gives the students a chance to work side-by-side with a number of senior developers from around the world, like our server-side developer Rob Podolski who has been seconded from London by one of the existing shareholders (Digital Earth Inc.)”. Of course it’s a win:win as the learning goes both ways.
Cornerportal is also affiliated with the Lead to Win program ( www.leadtowin.ca ) which provides various startup incubation and support services.
Lead to Win has also under-written some of Cornerportal’s earlier research in related fields in the form of cash grants. Interested parties should feel free to contact us should they require an introduction to any of these programs.
